Program overview

Support global education objectives by volunteering on teaching projects with GVI in Nepal. After completing training you will work on a range of ongoing education projects we run with local partners in the community.

Volunteers will work in local schools in an area close to Pokhara. Volunteers support educators with literacy and numeracy lessons as well as other subjects in the curriculum. This might include working with small groups of children or providing individual support within the classroom. Volunteers are able to use a range of resources from our educational material supplies to help make these lessons engaging for students. At playtimes, volunteers provide structured play opportunities and sport activities to assist children with achieving developmental milestones and soft skills like teamwork. In the evenings, volunteers will prepare the future lessons. Sometimes they will prepare educational resources to enhance learning.

Volunteers are based in Pokhara, a city considered to be the gateway to the Himalayas. Our base is located on the edge of Phewa lake with a view of the peaks of the Annapurna Range on a clear day. GVI participants stay together in accommodation owned by a Nepali family allowing for a fully immersive cultural experience.
