Travel to Southeast Asia to learn about how public health is conducted in unique local contexts on a global scale. First travel to Southern Thailand to the beautiful coastal province of Phang Nga and then on to Pokhara, a Nepalese town known to many as the gateway to the Himalayas. Your work will mostly consist of conducting workshops concerning sanitation and hygiene, to assist in preventing transferable diseases, and nutrition and exercise, to assist in preventing non-transferable diseases. Preventative health can help communities keep themselves healthier, requiring less medical attention, saving on household income funds and national budgets as well. In Phang Nga, volunteers will also assist in sports education for children, to facilitate fitness and physical health.
