Flights and airport taxes, medical and travel insurance, visa costs, police or background check, additional drinks and gratuities, extra local excursions, personal items and toiletries, snacks, food and accommodation in your free time if you choose to travel over weekends. If you prefer to travel to and from project sites by car, you can download the local Grab app (similar to Uber).
Your accommodation
You’ll stay at our volunteer house in the heart of Hai Chau District – walking distance from the beach. The accommodation includes dorm-style shared rooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. Amenities feature air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a washing machine and a communal kitchen.
For those seeking a bit more privacy, a private double room is available as an upgrade, subject to availability. This room is designed for two people and comes with a double bed, private locker, air conditioning and a shared bathroom.
The house is ideally situated near restaurants, entertainment and cultural attractions. It’s just a 15-minute walk to one project site and a 10-minute drive to another. Nearby, you’ll find a mix of local and international dining options, cultural landmarks like Trung Vuong Theatre and Han Market and iconic spots such as Dragon Bridge and Han River Bridge. The beach is also a short drive away, perfect for surfing, boating or a relaxing sunrise walk.
With high-speed Wi-Fi offering a download speed of 263.28 Mbps and an upload speed of 261.39 Mbps, staying connected is easy. While credit cards are accepted, cash is commonly used for smaller transactions, particularly in local markets. Enjoy the lively atmosphere of Hai Chau District and immerse yourself in the local scene, including early morning views of fishing boats arriving at the beach.
